While having your Cayman Islands holiday, make sure to attend a show through the ‘Barefoot Man’. George Nowak (the Barefoot Man), was created in Germany (or Austria, according to the source) but is already the maximum amount of an element of the Cayman Islands several locals. He has lived and played there since 1971 after a time period of island hopping which included Hawaii along with the Bahamas.
His songs are mainly a risqué parody set to calypso, reggae, country or pop music. If you have seen the film ‘The Firm’, then you would already know Barefoot’s music. He wrote the song ‘Money, Money, Money’ and is singing inside the background while Terrains de golf d’île Caïman was dancing.
Barefoot not just writes and performs his very own songs, he also owns the record company that records and sells his CDs (located in most stores on Grand Cayman). He has also branched over to The Bahamas, where one among his albums is in the most notable Ten for four years.
His songs include ‘Ship Faced’, ‘Ship Song’, ‘Save the Lap Dance for Me’ and ‘Thong Gone Wrong’. He also sings about Cayman current affairs and wrote ‘The Gay Cruise Liner Song’ right after the visit by way of a Gay Cruise. One reviewer stated how the Barefoot Man won a Grammy Award for ‘Gone Coconutz’, which was written after 85dexrpky devastating Hurricane Ivan, although I have got been struggling to find this album or artist listed in the Grammy Archives.
No Cayman Islands holiday is finished without catching a show from the Barefoot Man. He can be found with the Reef Hotel every Tuesday and Thursday night. The Reef is the only 100% beach front hotel on Grand Cayman.
John has completed the online training course provided by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism, which included a visit to Grand Cayman and Little Cayman to check out various hotels, sample a few of the restaurants and to participate in a variety of places of interest.
